The Last Roll Call

Last week Thursday, almost 500 Sirius College students, staff, graduates and parents attended the 2019 Last Roll Call. This is the annual Sirius College event where recent graduates come back to share what steps they have decided to take after secondary school. Whether they go into further education, training, travel or work, they have all made decisions about their future and this may, in turn, be an example for or inspire others. All Year 10 and Year 12 students from all campuses attended. They listened to the keynote speaker, Mariam Veiszadeh, an accomplished professional, lawyer, media commentator and community advocate, who shared the importance of overcoming obstacles such as bigotry, pressure and sexism, in order to fulfil your goals. This year, three graduates took to the stage to give advice to our current students on how to manage stress. They shared their story of how they decided on what to study and emphasised the importance of making your own decisions. All Year 12 students will be invited next year to take part in the program as alumni.
